What to Expect?
At Durham Radiology Associates we provide professional and efficient X-ray services to help diagnose various medical conditions. Here’s what you can expect before, during, and after your exam.
Before the Exam
- Referral Required: You will need a referral from your healthcare provider, most X-rays are covered by OHIP. Please bring the Requisition Form and your valid Ontario Health Card for each visit.
- If you do not have an OHIP health card, you can still receive an X-ray at Durham Radiology Associates:
- Private Payment: X-ray services can be accessed through private payment. Please contact our clinic for pricing information.
- Insurance Coverage: If you have private health insurance, we can provide you with the necessary documentation to submit a claim for reimbursement, depending on your insurance plan.
- Referral Requirement: A referral from a licensed healthcare provider is still required for all X-ray exams.
- No Special Preparation: X-ray exams do not require specific preparation such as fasting or drinking water. However, please inform us if you are pregnant or think you might be.
- What to Wear: Wear comfortable clothing. You may be asked to remove jewelry or metal objects that could interfere with the imaging.
During the Exam
- Quick and Painless: X-rays are generally quick, non-invasive, and painless. Our trained technologists will position you and capture the necessary images.
- Safety First: We prioritize your safety by using the lowest radiation dose possible while ensuring high-quality images.
After the Exam
- Results: Your X-ray images will be reviewed by a radiologist, and the results will be sent to your referring physician.
- Next Steps: Your doctor will discuss the results with you and recommend any necessary follow-up care.
- Patient Web Portal Access: Durham Radiology Associates offers access to the Patient Web Portal, providing an immediate way to view and download your diagnostic images.
